Off-the-Field Services
and Business Management
AEA sets itself apart from how it treats and cares for its clients’ off-the-field endeavors and personal lives. AEA’s clients remain at the center of everything we do. Adding diverse services and education opportunities that enhance the client experience create protections for our clients that will impact and last beyond an athlete’s athletic life and are paramount to success after their time in their sport has ended. We are committed to utilizing our talents and exceptional personnel to offer services that our clients can choose from at accommodating pricing.
We see athletes as more than entertainers or assets to a college program of NFL roster. Sports will always be a short duration of an athlete’s life. Instead of using sports to enrich themselves financially, we want to empower athletes to understand that the business of sports creates opportunities for more than monetary gain, but the opportunity to understand how business works off the field and in new endeavors. The ability to understand how structuring their lives through the law and business orientation during their playing days will set the athletes up for success while they are playing and immediately after when they transition out of sports. Instead of hiding the tools of education that will help athletes feel comfortable with their business and finances off the field, we want to give the athletes the educational training and tools as early as possible so they have the knowledge of what is occurring in the deals made off the field, how they can grow with that knowledge to have their next career path planned, and protect their own assets off of the field. We created a curriculum and formed relationships and contacts with professionals that will help athletes understand how to protect their wealth, how to utilize the formation of entities for asset protection, understand taxes and how to utilize the tax code for business benefits, and the importance of working towards setting up an estate plan – all of this education is available. Athletes don’t always surround themselves with the right people until it is too late, or perhaps until after they retire. There is no reason to wait that long to be empowered. We don’t want to leave athletes fending for themselves, we want to empower them with knowledge to create a well-rounded person. Athletes need to not only understand there is a life after sports, but they need to understand how to have a life after sports. The only way to do that is through empowering the athlete and arming them with education and opportunities.
Finances
We are not certified financial advisors, but we can assist you with using the education and business infrastructure we help you establish to link with your financial plans. Where hiring financial advisors comes in, there numerous ways a CPA or CFP can secure financial protections for the athlete. From here, it is in the best interest of your financial advisors to ensure that you not only keep the money that you’ve earned, but help it remain secure and grow.
It should be fairly evident, at this point, that it is in any professional of collegiate athlete’s best interest to hire separate financially certified companies that specialize in their specific fields. We will work in concert with you to connect you with financial planning resources to ensure that you are receiving the best and most objective advice that only serves your interest, not someone else’s bottom line, and that your business infrastructure is being looked out for and linking with your financial goals.
